Truth No. 1: I’ve been a Christian for most of my life and in fact, can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in church, Bible study, Sunday school, all the things. Truth No. 2: I’ve never read through the Bible. Truth No. 3: I’ve had some stops and starts over the years, but honestly, got bored with all the genealogies and Old Testament stories. And because I got bored, I quit.
Enter 2020: I found @thebiblerecap and Tara Leigh Cobble and it was a God-thing. I have always believed that God directs our steps and He knows what we need when we need it. Well, if that wasn’t more true in 2020, then I’m a monkey’s uncle. God knew what was ahead for me this year and He knew I would need to be in His word daily. He knew what I would face, the decisions I would need to make, the emotions I would work through, the people I would encounter, the daily stuff … He knew it all beforehand.
I cannot begin to list all the things I learned while reading through the Bible. I took notes, wrote out favorite scriptures, and wrote out the ones that spoke to me during the day’s reading. It’s amazing to me how on time God is in my life. There were days I missed along the way, but when I was catching up, His word was relevant in that moment, that situation, that day. It would surprise me in such a beautiful way!
How reassuring it is to know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me so well that He provides for me on a daily basis. And here’s the main point I want to make: He loves YOU that much, too! He wants to be with YOU daily! He knows YOU! YOU are such a valuable person! If you have any questions about that, comment below or message me. I want to share with you all that God has done for me, not only this year, but my whole life.
If you would like to join me in 2021 and read through the Bible, please comment that below as well. It will be fun to have someone beside me to share. It will bless us both!
Me. I would too!
Great! You can print out the plan I’m using on The Bible Recap website – it starts tomorrow!
